Swarm Polar Electrojet (PEJ) - Product description and access
The location of the Polar Electrojets (PEJs) are determined from magnetic measurements by the Swarm satellites. This product gives the possibility to monitor or validate the evolution of PEJ during geomagnetic quiet times and geomagnetic storms, in particular their migration from high- to mid-latitudes. The location and intensity of the PEJ determines the possibility that power supply failure might occur due to ground induced currents.
SUA PEJ is provided as four estimates per Swarm orbit (two in the Northern and, and two in the Southern auroral region) as data product. PEJ is derived using the Swarm mission operational product MAGx_LR_1B (Swarm L1b MAG product description). The data are provided in daily files in ASCII format. The derived PEJ product name are PEJxTMSSWE, with x = A, B, C for the 3 satellites respectively.
